Scope

Fixed term contract : 12 months with potential for renewal

Salary: up to £45,000 DoE

Location: Guildford Area, Surrey, UK

Join our Life Science client’s team in supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), Biosafety, and Bio-security strategies for their Manufacturing operations.

Your role will be pivotal in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering a culture of safety across the organization.

You will also play a crucial role in support a dedicated field-force team on the rollout of the EHS roadmap for our client’s sites.

Responsibilities

EHS Management:

  • Provide expert guidance on EHS matters, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and Corporate Requirements.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of EHS documentation such as SOPs and Risk Assessments.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and documentation of incidents, near misses, and accidents.
  • Perform scheduled EHS inspections and assist in site incident response and crisis management.
  • Facilitate Global EHS audits and Regulatory visits, actively supporting follow-up actions.
  • Ensure fumigation locks are periodically validated at designated sites.

Waste Management:

  • Collaborate with the Environment Advisor to ensure proper waste segregation, disposal, and documentation.
  • Deliver comprehensive EHS training to site employees, including developing training materials and courses.
  • Stay updated on EHS legislative requirements and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

Promotion of EHS Culture:

  • Engage in committee meetings to address EHS-related actions.
  • Share insights from incident investigations and lead EHS awareness campaigns.
  • Assist in establishing and promoting EHS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Lead Tier 1 meetings as necessary, fostering a culture of safety and compliance.

About You

  • Possession of a National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (NEBOSH).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Effective time management and organizational abilities.
  • Positive attitude with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Proficient in EHS/BSY regulations and legal frameworks.
  • Experience with risk assessment and root cause analysis methodologies.
  • Keen attention to detail and hazard observation skills.
  • Capability to deliver engaging and informative EHS training sessions.
