Microbiology Technician

Scope

An innovative and dynamic company, my client produces and distributes a unique range of microbial products developed by research on-site to clients across the world.

This is an exciting time for them and due to continued growth and success they are looking to add to their developing team with a part time microbiology technician. This microbiology technician will facilitate the smooth running of the lab from culture collection maintenance, QC testing throughout the production process to the finished product and supporting the Lab Supervisor in a variety of other tasks. Ideally this will be approximately 3 days a week.

Responsibilities

· Production support, starter culture production and QC of various steps of the process including finished product to prove sterile manufacture and number of bacteria per g of finished product.

· Supporting a range of laboratory tasks to support development work (Formulation’ Improvement Trials, Strain selection, Bacterial Survival trials, Field Trials, New Product Formulation and Assessment, Packaging evaluation)

About You

  • Prior experience within a microbiological testing role. Food, water, cosmetics and pharmaceutical backgrounds all considered
  • Great team working skills
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Excellent time management
  • Accurate data recording and management skills
  • Understanding of COSHH
  • Resource management in terms of consumables and chemical materials stocks
